The Kanizsa triangle is an optical illusion invented by the psychologist Gaetano Kanizsa in 1955. It consists of three Pac-Man like figures with their mouths turned inwards giving the illusion of a triangle. Viewing the Kanizsa triangle in laboratory conditions increases gamma activity in the human brain. Studies have shown that ingesting 5-HT2A agonists such as psilocybin induces brain activity in the gamma range independent of sensory input.
